I guess that’s because I didn’t go on a vacation for a really really LONG time!! Anyway, now that I’ve got a tiny bit of a post typed out I can relax (a little). I’m baaaack! It is so weird that I didn’t post anything for over a week (gasp)! Since starting this blog I have never gone that long without posting something. I’ve since redone the post but the recipe remains the same *Please note* this post was originally published in 2017. This blood orange whiskey sour is so good!! We couldn't stop commenting on how much we loved.A hint of lime and sweet cherries add a fun twist to your new favourite summer whiskey cocktails! This cherry whiskey sour will be on repeat this summer. That's it, you've made an amazing Blood Orange Whiskey Cocktail - how easy was that?! Step 8 - Pour into a chilled cocktail glass with ice and garnish with a blood orange slice and a maraschino cherry. Step 7 - Shake cocktail until frost form on the glass - about 20 seconds. Note - mine is brown because I use Organic Cane Sugar. It will keep in the refrigerator for about a month. Store the simple syrup in the fridge, with a date on a tag. To make our variation - a Blood Orange Whiskey Sour - I used Blood Orange Juice to replace some of the lemon juice. There are several variations of whiskey sours and at Spruce Eats, they give a lot of different Whiskey Sour Variations. Well, living in Chattanooga, I had to use our own local, Chattanooga Whiskey, 1816 Cask, of course! My husband wanted me to mention that this is his sipping whiskey, something that he would normally be hesitant to let me use to mix up a cocktail, but he sacrificed some for this blog and my whiskey sours! I’m so glad he did, because these were so good! He felt they could have been a little more sour, so I included an optional little bit of lemon juice in the recipe, but I really like my not-so-sour whiskey sours. You can vary the whiskey sour by the choice of whiskey you use. It contains three ingredients: whiskey, lemon juice, and sugar. So, now you’re ready to run to the store and pick up some blood oranges, right?
